nimar housing for canon 450D

canon 450D (XSi) is about $700 these days with the kit lens. (USD)

the cheapest housing on the market seems to be the Nimar NI303D, $1150 (USD) including the port (for the standard kit 18-55 lens).

total under $2K, not bad. the nimar housing has a standard nikonos bulkhead. not sure if it works with inon strobes for TTL. (photos are from the nimar site).  also the housing does not have a hotshoe on top for fixing focus lights.

I looked at the BHphoto site and it looks like the housing circuitry is only TTL compatible with the NIMAR strobe, $1250 recycle time 7 s!!!

Other strobes only manual output.

I guess a couple of NIMAR strobes, a housing and a camera.. Oops, might as well get a 5D mark-2 with Ikelite housing and smaller but faster recycling DS51 :)

the ikelite housing for the 450D is huge and over 3kg. the seatool housing is much smaller and 1.6kg. similar for the ZAP-KissX2 housing. only problem is they are twice the price of ikelite.

I have a nimar for my d-90. It is a piece of junk. The controls froze at 5 meters, except the shutter control.
Some of the controls on the housing don't work, they refuse to fix them. They have not sent the parts to fix the command dial control so it is usable with the 10mm port. They refuse to send the lens covers they promised. They don't answer e-mails. Anything you want from them takes forever to get, even after you have paid for them. I am now looking for another housing, one that works!!!!!!!!!
